UnknownFrench Operator Free Mobile launched in January 2012 have announced an interesting new RLAH (Roam like at home) approach to winning customers with a unique offering to Canada, clearly a major destination in North America for French speakers.

The Iliad Group is a major player in the French telecommunications and Internet access market via Free and Alice (4,225,000 ADSL subscribers as of 31 December 2008), Onetel and Iliad Télécom (fixed telephony providers) and IFW (Wiresless Local Loop). The French MNO covers 75% of the population of France with national Roaming on the Orange network for 2G/3G.

Laeticia Nicolas, International Roaming Business manager at Iliad / Free announced in a LinkedIn Article:

Subscribers who have been signed up to the Free Mobile Plan for at least 60 days can now use their plan when they are in Canada for 35 days per calendar year at no extra cost. This includes unlimited outgoing calls, SMS and MMS messages from Canada to Canada and to Metropolitan France, as well as 3G mobile Internet access of up to 3GB. The same applies to incoming communications.
