Prepaid mobile customers of StarHub Singapore are now able to stay online in Malaysia at local rates, the mobile carrier said in a news release today (Aug 27).
Whether in Singapore or Malaysia, StarHub Happy Prepaid customers can use their prepaid data bundles without having to pay data roaming costs or any additional fee for activation or subscription, starting today.
These customers can data roam on any mobile network in Malaysia without the hassle of manually selecting a partner network, the company said, adding that this is a feature unique to StarHub.
“We believe our innovative data roaming offering is relevant for the tens of thousands who travel between Singapore and Malaysia daily,”
said Mr Tian Ung Ping, Assistant Vice President of Mobile Prepaid Business, StarHub.
To activate the “cross border” service, StarHub Happy Prepaid customers need to dial *123*5*2# on their phone to enable data roaming. This opens their existing prepaid data bundle for overseas use.
Customers can thereafter top up their data bundle and track usage as they normally would, by dialing *123# or using the StarHub Happy Prepaid Android or iOS app. Data bundle top-ups, for use in both Singapore and Malaysia, range from as low as S$1 for 10MB for seven days to $20 for 1.2GB for 30 days.
